Ackerly is a city in Dawson and Martin counties in the U.S. state of Texas. The town was named for Paul Ackerly, who founded it following the division of Slaughter Ranch into farming tracts. As of the 2010 Census, the population was 220. Ackerly is located at 32°31?32?N 101°42?51?W? / ?32.52556°N 101.71417°W? / 32.52556; -101.71417 (32.525563, -101.714242). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.3 square miles (0.8 kmē), all land. As of the census of 2000, there were 245 people, 80 households, and 60 families residing in the city. The population density was 792.5 people per square mile (305.1/kmē). There were 96 housing units at an average density of 310.5 per square mile (119.6/kmē). The racial makeup of the city was 69.80% White, 28.98% from other races, and 1.22% from two or more races.
