According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.3 square miles (6.0 km2), of which, 2.2 square miles (5.7 km2) of it is land and 0.44% is water. As of the census of 2000, there were 1,696 people, 711 households, and 430 families residing in the town. The population density was 752.7 people per square mile (291.0/km²).
