The property taxes taxes in Albany are outrageous and are far more than surrounding towns and the school taxes are very high even though the school district closed the school in Albany. As of the census of 2000, there were 895 people, 349 households, and 262 families residing in the village. The population density was 894.8 people per square mile (345.6/km²).
