Alhambra is a village in Madison County, Illinois, United States. The population was 681 at the 2010 census. Alhambra was named after the Alhambra palace in Spain. Alhambra is located at 38°53?19?N 89°43?57?W? / ?38.88861°N 89.7325°W? / 38.88861; -89.7325 (38.888614, -89.732616). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.8 square miles (2.1 km2), of which 0.8 square miles (2.1 km2) is land and 1.06% is water. As of the census of 2000, there were 630 people, 209 households, and 145 families residing in the village. The population density was 834.4 people per square mile (320.1/km²). There were 216 housing units at an average density of 286.1 per square mile (109.7/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.73% White, and 1.27% from two or more races.
