Alta is a census-designated place (CDP) in Teton County, Wyoming, United States. The population was 400 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Jackson, WY?ID Micropolitan Statistical Area. Alta is located near the state line, about 6 miles (9.7 km) east of Driggs, Idaho. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 130.1 square miles (337.0 kmē), of which, 130.0 square miles (336.8 kmē) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.2 kmē) of it (0.07%) is water. As of the census of 2000, there were 400 people, 141 households, and 104 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 3.1 people per square mile (1.2/kmē). There were 181 housing units at an average density of 1.4/sq mi (0.5/kmē). The racial makeup of the CDP was 99.25% White and 0.75% Asian. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.25% of the population.
