Alvarado is a city situated along the Snake River in Marshall County in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The population was 363 at the 2010 census. Minnesota Highway 1 and Minnesota Highway 220 are two of the main arterial routes in the community. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.2 square miles (0.52 km2), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 371 people, 145 households, and 100 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,738.4 people per square mile (682.1/kmē). There were 179 housing units at an average density of 838.7 per square mile (329.1/kmē). The racial makeup of the city was 92.72% White, 7.01% from other races, and 0.27% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 10.24% of the population.
