According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.7 square miles (4.4 km2), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 312 people, 125 households, and 88 families residing in the city. The population density was 185.7 people per square mile (71.7/km²). There were 136 housing units at an average density of 80.9 per square mile (31.3/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 96.47% White (0.32% Australian), 1.60% African American, 0.32% Asian, 0.96% from other races, and 0.64% from two or more races.
