According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.9 square miles (7.5 km2), of which 2.8 square miles (7.3 km2) is land and 0.1 square miles (0.3 km2) (4.79%) is water. As of the census of 2000, there were 3,965 people, 1,592 households, and 1,022 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,428.2 people per square mile (550.7/km²).
