Aurora is a city in Cloud County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 60. In 1887, Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway built a branch line from Neva (3 miles west of Strong City) through Aurora to Superior, Nebraska. In 1996, the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway merged with Burlington Northern Railroad and renamed to the current BNSF Railway. Most locals still refer to this railroad as the "Santa Fe". Aurora is located at 39°27?6?N 97°31?49?W? / ?39.45167°N 97.53028°W? / 39.45167; -97.53028 (39.451641, -97.530396). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.1 square miles (0.26 km2), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 79 people, 33 households, and 23 families residing in the city. The population density was 782.5 people per square mile (305.0/kmē).
