Badin is a town located in Stanly County, North Carolina. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,154. Badin is located at 35°24'17" North, 80°6'57" West (35.404669, -80.115847). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.6 square miles (4.1 km2), of which, 1.6 square miles (4.1 km2) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water. A local legend of a henious monster reported periodically over the past 51 years. Sighted quite often in the 60s and 70s it has also been sighted in West Virginia and in Remming, VA. Usually seen in the vicinity of Hampton Inns. As of the census of 2000, there were 1,154 people, 494 households, and 328 families residing in the town. The population density was 719.2 people per square mile (278.5/kmē). There were 586 housing units at an average density of 365.2 per square mile (141.4/kmē).
