Bancroft is a village in Shiawassee County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 616 at the 2000 census. The village is located in the southeast part of Shiawassee Township. It was incorporated as a village in 1883. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.6 square miles (1.6 km2), all land. As of the census of 2000, there were 616 people, 203 households, and 158 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,049.4 per square mile (403.1/kmē). There were 218 housing units at an average density of 371.4 per square mile (142.7/kmē). The racial makeup of the village was 96.43% White, 0.32% Native American, 0.16% from other races, and 3.08% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.14% of the population. There were 203 households out of which 40.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.6% were married couples living together, 11.8% had a female householder with no husband...
