Baring is a census-designated place (CDP) in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 220 at the 2010 census. It is located on U.S. Highway 2 about 22 miles west of Stevens Pass, along a very flat and straight three-mile section of highway that's been dubbed the Baring Straight since U.S. 2 is otherwise hilly and curvy through the mountains. Baring is located at 47°45?50?N 121°28?34?W? / ?47.76389°N 121.47611°W? / 47.76389; -121.47611 (47.763755, -121.476079). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.8 square miles (4.6 kmē), of which, 1.7 square miles (4.4 kmē) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.3 kmē) of it (5.62%) is water. As of the census of 2000, there were 233 people, 105 households, and 59 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 139.0 people per square mile (53.5/kmē).
