According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 11.1 square miles (29 km2), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 7,113 people, 2,577 households, and 1,821 families residing in the city. The population density was 638.2 people per square mile (246.3/kmē). There were 2,791 housing units at an average density of 250.4 per square mile (96.6/kmē).
