Benton is a village in Lafayette County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 976 at the 2000 census. The village is located within the Town of Benton. The pioneer priest Father Samuel Mazzuchelli founded the village's Catholic parish, Saint Patrick's Church. Father Mazzuchelli is buried in Saint Patrick's cemetery. He was declared Venerable by Pope John Paul II in 1993, and the case for his Sainthood is still pending. Benton is located at 42°34?15?N 90°23?3?W? / ?42.57083°N 90.38417°W? / 42.57083; -90.38417 (42.570836, -90.38437). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.8 square miles (2.1 kmē).None of the area is covered with water.
