According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 2.8 square miles (7.3 km2), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 8,317 people, 4,401 households, and 2,583 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 2,922.0 people per square mile (1,126.7/kmē). There were 4,925 housing units at an average density of 1,730.3/sq mi (667.2/kmē). The racial makeup of the CDP was 95.90% White, 1.71% African American, 0.19% Native American, 0.60% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.38% from other races, and 1.20% from two or more races.
