The population was 1,856 at the 2010 census, an increase of 271 individuals since the 2000 census. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 8.8 square miles (23 km2), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 1,585 people, 636 households, and 478 families residing in the town. The population density was 179.6 people per square mile (69.4/kmē). There were 680 housing units at an average density of 77.1 per square mile (29.8/kmē). The racial makeup of the town was 96.91% White, 1.07% African American, 0.32% Native American, 0.13% Asian, 0.63% from other races, and 0.95% from two or more races.
