Bradley is a town in Penobscot County, Maine, United States. It is located at 44°55?6?N 68°37?43?W? / ?44.91833°N 68.62861°W? / 44.91833; -68.62861 (44.9184, -68.6287). It is part of the Bangor, Maine Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 1,242 at the 2000 census. Bradley was incorporated as a town in 1834, with lumbering and sawmilling the principle industry. It was named for Bradley Blackman, an early settler. By the 1850s the town had 14 single-saw mills, 3 gang-saw (multiple-saw) mills, 4 clapboard mills, 4 lath mills, and 3 shingle mills. The only village was at Greatworks. The Maine Forest & Logging Museum, located at Leonard's Mills, was established in 1960 to preserve the logging history of Maine. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 50.8 square miles (132 km2), of which, 49.6 square miles (128 km2) of it is land and 1.2 square miles (3.1 km2) of it (2.42%) is water.
