The Great Bear Recreation Park is located 2½ miles to the west of Brandon. Interstate 90 is a major east/west route on the northern edge of the city. South Dakota Highway 11 runs a north/south route through the city as well. As of the census of 2000, there were 5,693 people, 1,909 households, and 1,592 families residing in the city.
