According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.3 square miles (6.0 km2), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 4,486 people, 1,689 households, and 1,177 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,967.8 people per square mile (759.7/km²). There were 1,791 housing units at an average density of 785.6 per square mile (303.3/km²).
