Carter is located at 47°46?53?N 110°57?21?W? / ?47.781252°N 110.955800°W? / 47.781252; -110.955800 (47.781252, -110.955800). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 2.9 square miles (7.5 km2), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 62 people, 31 households, and 19 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 21.3 people per square mile (8.2/km2). There were 34 housing units at an average density of 11.7 per square mile (4.5/km2). The racial makeup of the CDP was 100.00% White.
