According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 11.3 square miles (29 km2), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 4,033 people, 1,344 households, and 1,073 families residing in the town. The population density was 355.6 people per square mile (137.3/km²). There were 1,713 housing units at an average density of 151.1 per square mile (58.3/km²).
